Dental Bonding
Roswell, GA

Roswell, GA College girl smiling after dental bonding prodecureYellowing teeth, slightly chipped tooth and wide spaces can seem unimportant when it comes to the grand scheme of your overall oral health, but they can give a big jolt to your aesthetic appearance and self-esteem. A simple cosmetic procedure, like dental bonding, can do wonders for your smile and confidence.

At Reich Dental Center – Roswell, we offer dental bonding which is one of the most popular, easiest, and most cost-effective Cosmetic dental procedures.

Most of the time, dental bonding is used to improve the appearance of your teeth rather than their functionality. However, its results can have a far-reaching impacts on the efficient working of your teeth as well.

When is Dental Bonding Used?

Dental bonding can be used to restore a slightly chipped tooth or to hide a discolored tooth with intrinsic stains that cannot be fixed with tooth whitening procedures. It is also used to fill in the gaps between teeth which can trap food and plaque. People with disproportionately short teeth can use bonding material to make their teeth appear longer and in line with other teeth. Bonding material can also be used to improve the shape of a tooth.

Bonding material can also be used to protect a tooth root which may have become exposed due to gum recession. In some cases, bonding material can be used as a cosmetic alternative to fillings.

Advantages of Dental Bonding

Dental bonding has many advantages:
•  It is the simplest and least expensive of all dental cosmetic procedures.
•  Bonding material is prepared in-office and applied directly to your tooth resulting in it being completed in a single visit, unlike veneers which typically need more than one appointment.
•  Bonding only requires a minimal amount of healthy tooth structure to be scaled off. This means it is better for the overall health of the mouth.
•  Since only a tiny amount of tooth surface is scraped, bonding is a reversible procedure. This means your tooth does not need to be protected with another restorative work if the bonding material chips away.

Limitations of Dental Bonding

Like all dental procedures, dental bonding procedures have a few limitations as well:
•  Bonding material is not as strong and durable as other restorative materials like veneers, fillings, and dental crowns. It can also chip off from the tooth.
•  Although the resin material used in bonding is relatively stain-resistant, it cannot protect your tooth from stain as well as other restorations, like porcelain veneers and crowns.

How To Take Care of your Teeth After a Bonding Procedure?

Bonded teeth do not require any extra special care. Patients who have gotten a bonding procedure should take care to follow good oral hygiene and dietary practices. They should brush their teeth at least twice a day and floss them daily. They should also not skip any dental exam appointments with Reich Dental Center – Roswell.

Bad lifestyle habits like chewing on fingernails and pen caps can cause the bonding material to chip away from your teeth. Typically though, bonding can last a few years, depending on your habits, before it needs to be repaired.
