Restorative Dentistry in Smyrna GA

Doctor operates dental service at Reich Dental Center in Smyrna, GA.
At Reich Dental Center, we specialize in a wide variety of restorative treatments, our goal is to prevent dental problems before they occur. Most of our treatments are designed to correct the two most common dental problems: tooth decay and gum disease.

Dental Fillings

Dental caries (tooth decay) is the result of the acid-producing bacteria found in plaque. Over time, tooth decay can cause cavities that threaten the inner layer of the tooth, like the dentin or pulp chamber. If you are diagnosed with any small to moderately-sized cavities, we typically recommend a dental filling to remedy the situation.

Dental Crowns

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that we place over a badly decayed or damaged tooth. We may recommend a crown to cover a chipped, broken, severely discolored, or otherwise misshaped tooth. A crown, once it is cemented in place, will fully encase the visible portion of a tooth. Most crowns these days are made from porcelain or zirconia, which are durable and esthetically-pleasing materials.

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is a time-tested appliance we use to replace one or more missing teeth. Most bridges consist of two dental crowns that are linked together by a pontic, or replacement tooth. We may recommend a bridge to fill the open space left by a missing tooth and prevent your remaining teeth from shifting out of position. A bridge can also restore your ability to chew and speak properly, as well as the aesthetics of your smile.

Dental Implant Restoration

A dental implant is a small titanium screw that we surgically place underneath the gum tissue and into the jawbone. The implant is used to mimic the root of a tooth and support a restoration. These days, implants can be used to support a single crown, fixed bridge, or even an entire arch of prosthetic teeth.

Implants are so successful largely because of osseointegration. Osseointegration is the fusion process, where the implant and bone form a bond strong enough to support your bite. Thanks to osseointegration, implants have become the gold standard for tooth replacement treatment.

Inlays and Onlays

Inlays and onlays are another way to restore teeth, in lieu of a dental crown or filling. An inlay is when the restoration is done inside of the tooth, while an onlay covers the cusp of a tooth. Inlays and onlays are often used to repair teeth with only slight tooth decay, which do not require a dental crown.
