Best Treatment to Fill the Tooth Gaps

Posted on 5/9/2022 by Office
Best Treatment to Fill the Tooth GapsAccording to the American Dental Association, gaps between teeth, called diastemas, are relatively common. Gaps can be caused by different factors, including genetics, trauma, and gum disease. There are a few different ways to fill the gaps in your teeth. You can use traditional braces, Invisalign, or dental implants. All of these treatments have their benefits and drawbacks. Here is what you should know about them.

Method 1: Traditional Braces

Traditional braces are the gold standard for treating tooth gaps for many years. These metal devices use fixed brackets to apply pressure to your teeth and pull them into position. They may be less cosmetically pleasing than other alternatives. Still, they are also more effective in moving teeth into their proper place and holding them there over an extended period.

Method 2: Invisalign

Invisalign is a newer form of treatment that uses clear, plastic aligners to gradually move your teeth into the desired position. These aligners are virtually invisible when you wear them and can be removed for eating and cleaning. Invisalign may not be effective as the traditional braces in treating more severe cases of tooth gaps. Still, these new dental aids are a good option for people who want a more aesthetically pleasing treatment.

Method: Dental Implants

Dental implants are the costliest option for treating tooth gaps, but they are also the most effective. This procedure involves placing a metal post in your jawbone and attaching a false tooth. Dental implants look and function just like your natural teeth. They are also the only treatment that will prevent your jawbone from deteriorating over time. Furthermore, dental implants can last a lifetime with the proper care.

If you have tooth gaps, a few different treatment options are available to you. Traditional braces, Invisalign, and dental implants are all effective. Be sure to talk to your dentist about which option is right for you.
